For people who've been following the comic only trough Deviant art and this group in specific - you might be wondering what's going on.  I'm still struggling with words, but a very tragic event turned the lives of me and my family upside down. If you want you can read about it on my blog.

I refuse to put the comic back on hiatus, but the update schedule will be bumpy in the upcoming weeks. I've some things planned to soften the disappointment, but I can do only so much right now.

In the previous journal I had posted that I was going to attend Imagicon. I had some doubts about going because of the current situation, but I've decided not to change my plans. More on it here:…

Stay awesome folks!

And if you care to stay in touch a bit more, consider liking my facebook page. I'm more active over there :).

i'm new to the comic series [just started today] and i was curious, what is with the braid? i know there was an issue with it when one was cut off but i am not sure if there is more significance with this or not [status etc] could someone please fill me in?

Hi, I'm glad you found the comic, and I hope you will enjoy reading it :D.

As for your question: The Alar don't cut their hair short, they all wear their hair in long braids: their hairstyle is part of their status and place in Aureate. Sky wardens have a particular hairstyle, so do priests, and so on :D.

I was wondering if you use a program to do the speech bubbles, and if so what is it? I'm going to be starting a comic with a friend and will have to figure that out soon!

Hi Knoxi, sorry for the slow reply. I hadn't noticed this message.
Spindrift is made in Photoshop, including the text balloons which are drawn with vectors. It's just one way to go about making bubbles though, there are many other equally valid techniques ^_^.
Goodluck with the comic!

Was following you for a moment now because of your gorgeous work but never read Spindrift yet.
Now it's done and I really love the story, you have a new-new fan !
Btw I love all the little hidden? messages on the pages :happybounce:

I stumbled across spindrift on your site and was hooked immediately.
I don't think I have ever seen a comic with such detailed and "true" characters. Add to that a richly imagined world and a compelling story. All of which is beautifully realised and presented. Who wouldn't be hooked?
I admit I also had a quick peek at your gallery. I see that the same imagination, skill and attention to detail goes into all of your work. Simply, thank you.
